AMG-HICAPS JV, LLC officially received its Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) certification by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Center for Verification and Evaluation.

The SDVOSB designation extends the capability of the joint venture to support Federal Agencies in meeting their small-business goals in the areas of Design/Build General Contracting, General Contracting, Professional Construction Management, Consulting Services Specializing in Pre-Construction, CPM Scheduling & Estimating, Design Projects, Building Diagnostics Communication, Commercial Interiors & FF&E (Design, Procurement & Installation) and Architectural Engineering.

“From the moment AMG and HICAPS discussed joining forces, we decided collectively to pursue the SDVOSB certification,” said Enyinna Anthony, Managing Member of AMG-HICAPS JV LLC. “Because we are both service-disabled veteran-owned, it only made sense to pursue the verification.”

It is the federal government’s goal to award at least 3% of all federal contracting dollars to SDVOSBs each year.  In order to be eligible for the SDVOSB certification, no less than 51% of the business must be owned and controlled by one or more veterans rated as service-disabled by the Veteran’s Administration.

“We had to submit a plethora of documents, to show that we are an established entity,” explained Mr. Anthony. “Including both business and personal financial information.”

The joint venture was required to demonstrate that it is an officially established company, both at the State and Federal level, with its own articles of incorporation.

“Everything is completely separated from a business standpoint,” he said. “The beauty of the JV is that we now have all the past performance and backing of both companies!”

While the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Center for Verification and Evaluation approved the SDVOSB certification last October, effective January 1, 2023, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) assumed responsibility of certifying Veteran-Owned firms due to the National Defense Authorization Act.
